DFDS Nordic Terminal
DFDS Nordic Terminal at Immingham is the most important Terminal within the DFDS Group. Situated on the East Coast of the UK, the Port of Immingham, is recognised as being on of the UK's premier Ports.
The terminal facility has Dockside and Riverside operations covering 720,000sq.mtrs, including 6 Ro-Ro berths, 2 conventional side-port berths and 80,000sq.mtrs of warehouse capacity.
The new Riverside facility, inaugurated in June 2006, offers a `state of the art' terminal operation for Ro-Ro services. The world's largest Ro-Ro pontoon constructed with two link-spans, is capable of handling 3 vessels simultaneously, including Deep-Sea vessels of 250mtrs length with a draft of up to 10mtrs, 24 hrs a day 7 days a week.
The facility has been built to accommodate the continued expansion of activities at Immingham, with opportunities to create new business within the Deep Sea automotive trade. This expansion offers an ideal geographical central location for UK distribution as well as a European and Scandinavian Hub.
The original Dockside terminal development offers Ro-Ro, Lo-Lo, conventional and side port facilities. The terminal facilities offer dedicated rail sidings capable of handling block trains of various commodities including steel, paper, containers and automotive trades. The Steel Terminal offers covered discharge operations to and from rail, for onward delivery or intermediate storage.
Added value operations include covered cross-dock facilities, dedicated paper warehousing, general warehousing, general transhipment facilities and forwarding capabilities, all utilising extensive IT solutions linked to customer demands.
