The BAF-scale is based on the average mixed ton rate during 1998 (NOK 626) = Index 100.

Mixed ton = IFO 180 (Intermediate Fuel Oil) 90% and MDO (Marine Diesel Oil) 10%. The price is based on Platt's Oilgram in Rotterdam (last but one workday figures) and rates of exchange (latest workday figures) each month. |

For shipments of overseas feeder containers Norway - Germany - Netherlands- Belgium and UK vice versa a BAF of EUR 35 per TEU is valid as from January 2006. The BAF is subject to changes in price on the mixton, and may be adjusted without notice in response to fluctuations in oil prices and rate of exchange (USD).
