The following system is used to assess the type of damage and any DFDS Tor Line responsibility involved:
· When a unit arrives to the terminal, a survey of the unit's visual condition is carried out by a video checking system or manually by the Gate personnel. Images of the unit is stored within this system and distributed within the DFDS Tor Line organisation. Manual Condition Reports are issued by the gate and distributed to the parties concerned.
· When the unit is picked up from the terminal, the Receiver or their representative haulier should check the unit and, if necessary, file a written report/Gate-Pass including remarks about it's condition.
· After the report/Gate-Pass has been handed over to DFDS Tor Line's representative, a counter-check of the reported damage will be carried out by the video-system or manually.
· Claims are handled within all DFDS Tor Line offices.
The Blue Card
We use the Blue Card as a guideline when settling claims regarding minor damage
to units. The Blue Card is drawn up by the North Sea Operators Claims Conference (NSOCC) and free copies are available on application.
PLEASE OBSERVE!
It is each Shipper's responsibility to secure cargo, in and on transport units /
articles to be shipped on DFDS Tor Line vessels. DFDS Tor Line will accept no responsibility for damage caused by defective or missing cargo securing.
Claims Policy
By actively pursuing a policy of risk and loss prevention DFDS Tor Line is dedicated to keep and carry goods entrusted to them without damage or delay.
Should nevertheless damage to the goods have been caused by DFDS Tor Line or its subcontractors, DFDS Tor Line shall be committed to handle any claim arising therefrom fairly and professionally in an atmosphere where common sense and consensus shall prevail.
DFDS Tor Line shall moreover handle, and whenever possible, settle claims without delay upon presentation of full and complete documentation substantiating the amount and nature of damage sustained as a cause of the fault or negligence of DFDS Tor Line or its subcontractors whilst goods were in the care and custody of DFDS Tor Line.
